Indoor Picnics
When I was in college, most of my food consisted of things that cost ~$.25 like Top Ramen or Macaroni and Cheese boxes. If I got lucky, I could add a green onion for a vegetable. Those were lean times. But every now and then, I could afford a splurge. and on those dates I would stop by a bakery, pick up a loaf French bread, some cheese (something nutty and sharp) and if I was really rolling in the dough, some salami. And then I would lay down a blanket in front of a movie and have a picnic. Fun times.
Now a days, I’ve convinced my son that this is the bomb. Disneyworld? Who needs that! We get to have a family picnic. Have cheese, will picnic. Now, our big addition is sleeping bags. We all get our sleeping bags and hangout together. Sometimes we turn on music. His (current) favorite is Jack George — who wrote the music from the Curious George movie.
It’s my own little slice of heaven. I can stop thinking about emails and commitments, and all that when I’m listening to music, sitting on the floor and having some picnic time.

What a wonderfully simple and fun thing to do. I can’t wait to try this myself. You made my day.
